Moving is a stressful and hectic process. There are move-out dates that need to be met, trucks to be rented and endless boxes to be packed. To add to the hassle, once boxes start stacking up, they can quickly clutter up living spaces making it nearly impossible to carry on any semblance of a “normal” life during the process. What many people don’t realize is that storage units can cheaply provide extra space and help streamline the entire move process.
When a storage unit is rented during the move process, there is no longer the need to wait for the day that the rental truck is onsite to start relocating boxes from the current home. Instead, boxes can be moved and stored as they are packed. Used in conjunction with smart packing techniques, this can eliminate much of the hassle involved with a move.
The first things that should be packed up are nonessentials and decorative items. Books, seldom used cookware, small appliances and even holiday decorations can be safely stored at a storage unit very early in the move process. With these items packed, and the boxes stored offsite, it becomes easier to continue the packing process without becoming overwhelmed.
Instead of mazes filled with stacked mystery boxes, more space is created and it becomes possible to thoroughly clean rooms after they are packed up. Also, by transporting smaller amounts of boxes over a longer period of time, there is no more feeling of panicked rush when the moving truck arrives. When no longer in a rush, it will become easier to ensure that beloved furniture does not incur nicks and dings, and everything can be handled with care instead of being rushed into the truck as quickly as possible.
Although nothing will take all the stress out of a move, storage units can offer a valuable resource that will help take the edge off of the big day!
